The Silver Arrow Legend

Since 75 years, the terms Mercedes-Benz and „Silver Arrow are inseparably connected to each other. The era of the Silver Arrow started 1934 with the Formula Racing car W25. The models W125, W154 and W196 followed. For the anniversary for 75 years Silver Arrow, an imposing parade with these historical vehicles took place.

On the test racing track in Stuttgart, Untertuerkheim, Lewis Hamilton, Ralf Schumacher and Hans Herrmann reviewed history again with the original racing cars. Lewis Hamilton drove the freshly restored W25, which hadnt been in use since 30 years. Before the driving demonstration, Lewis Hamilton was present for the insertion of his Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-23 into the Mercedes-Benz Museum the vehicle with which he von the champion title in 2008. This car is now part of the worlds biggest Silver arrow collection.

75 years ago Mercedes-Benz presented the race cars, which quickly became known as silver arrows. Looking back at history the new victories are reflected in the successes of that time. Due to the painstaking engineering work and precisely timed season preparation the silver arrows enjoyed not just a superiority on the day, but a superiority which there was no getting past over decades. Todays drivers and the drivers of the 30's and 50's have made their contribution to what today has legend status in the world of motor sports: The silver arrows.
